This is most likely not a surprise to any of us mothers, we can feel her pain. Yet, this amazing mother and father are holding each other accountable. They pick each other up when they get weak. Often they remind each other to keep going. “Don’t quit, keep going” they say to spur one another on.
Recently, the Dad said, “No more basketball on Saturdays, I’m tired of running and giving up every Saturday.” The wife wisely challenged, “We can’t quit because we are tired; we need to make decisions based on what is best for our whole family.” “Your right” the husband realized, so they sat down and weighed what they thought would be best.
This is such a good reminder, whether we have one child or a dozen. Finish strong! Mostly though I think we need to fight coasting with our last child, whatever number that might be. It is natural to start out zealous and to weaken in our resolve over time. As parents with a purpose, we need to choose what is best for the whole family, verses making decisions out of our own weariness.
