We enjoy football and the game was exciting; there was no disappointment in the performance or the outcome.
As I sat in Soldier field, though, I felt like a green minnow, amidst a sea of blue and orange whales. It was a picture of me in this world. One follower of Christ amidst a large number of uncaring lost.
There was also a lot of uninhibited worship of a very small god, going on all around me. I couldn’t help but wonder why there is such small worship going on in our churches, when we have such an enormous God to get excited about.
Another area that hit me as I soaked in my surroundings was the bond the Bears fans had with each other. There was no concern about anything other than that they were cheering for the same outcome. When the team scored there were high fives all around. When is the last time we saw that kind of unity in the family of God?
I am stirred. Will I care for the masses of lost around me? Will I give myself to fully worship the only God worthy of my praise? Will I love my brothers and sisters unconditionally?
Create in me a heart like Yours, Lord! Amen
