Sounds like Galations 2: 16 to me, “know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law no one will be justified.”
As parents it is good for us to pass down high standards to our
children; we must also make it very clear that standards do not multiply God’s love for them. Standards will not get them to heaven. Standards like the law are meant to point us to Jesus, to show us our need for Him.
Salvation by faith alone does not mean we should throw our standards out all together. Throwing away standards is living for self and the moment. Romans 6: 15 “What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!”
Instead, our standards need to be based on something….based on
God’s Word.
Still when it comes to others we must love at all times and remember that God is working in each of us. My maturity or lack of maturity does not equal my salvation; it is just part of the wonderful journey I am on toward being with my Savior forever.
