The assignment was to read five days AND journal. To journal means to pick out at least one point that hits you or applies to your life and write it down. This action often leads to writing a prayer, but that was not required.
This weekend I bumped into one of the moms and asked how her assignment was going. She shared that she had told her husband the challenge and she prayed for God to show her where He wanted her to read. She confessed she struggles with reading the Word and thinking, “I’ve read this before”, so it is hard to focus. But when she prayed, she “felt” God telling her to read I John. When she told her husband, his response was, “I John has five chapters, perfect!”
This mom admitted to needing this assignment. She had found it easy to make excuses not to read because she has a small baby. But, in reality, she had time if she prioritized it.
If any of you are struggling to be in the Word, feel free to take on this assignment yourself. Try it for just one week. See how God touches you personally.
These verses in Psalms 27 and 28 tell us to seek, ask, wait and He will strengthen.
Vs 8 “My heart says of You, ‘Seek His face?’ Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
Vs 11 “Teach me Your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.”
Vs 14 “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Vs 7 “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.”
