Sometimes special days can leave us a little wanting because they don’t completely fill our near empty tank. Do not be discouraged, just look where our real encouragement comes from. It is only when we do our work unto the Lord that we will be satisfied.
We cannot hope our children or husband will somehow know how to build us up when we don’t really know what we need either. The reality is no one thing, activity, gift, or words of encouragement will keep us going for another year. We need Jesus to renew our strength every morning.
Most of us moms would agree with this. Yet, it can be difficult to find quite and time to sit and connect with our Jesus. I truly have compassion for this busy season of little ones always wanting a piece of mommy. If we truly know we need Jesus, we MUST find a way to connect with Him.
Having one Bible verses hanging in the kitchen that is meditated on throughout the day is connecting with Jesus. Just having a verse hanging in the kitchen is not connecting with Jesus. There is effort required and a desperate need for Truth that drive us to His Word.
Connecting with Jesus can look many ways for a busy mom with small children. Still, I struggle with the conversation that claims to not have time for Jesus, but without pausing starts asking her friends is they saw this or that on Facebook. What about those cute pins? Or did you watch that great season finale? Time? You don’t have time for Jesus? Really?
Mommy, you are precious, you are loved, but you need Jesus if you want to pass on value to your children. We all need Jesus for wisdom, guidance, grace, patience, please do not neglect His inviting you to “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matt. 11:28
