“audience”. It is important for us to recognize who we are talking to and how they will perceive our words. Whether it is a one on one conversation or a presentation before a group of people, we
must consider who they are in order to best reach them.
This morning I read I Timothy 5:1+2 “Do not rebuke an older man harshly but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.”
When talking to the average teen this verse may not declare a
very high standard. How does the average teen talk to their parent? How do they treat their siblings?
As we talk to our children and others about God’s truths we need
to consider their perspective and try to relate to them in a way that they can understand. Even if God’s word doesn’t line up with what they see all around them, like the above verse, we can help them see what God’s best looks like.
