A verse in Proverbs pops to mind, Proverbs 6:6, the verses encouraging a sluggard to go to the ant. Combining the thoughts about the squirrel and the idea with the ant, this is what came out:
Go to the squirrel you complacent ones; consider its ways and be wise!
It has no pastor, no overseer or teacher,
Yet it is persistent to get what it needs, and works to get its food for the day.
How long will you lie there you dulled ones;
When will you get up from your sleep?
A little distraction, a little play, a little folding of the hands to rest---
And numbness will come on you like a bandit
And worldliness like an armed man.
