Although I was on board for a day trip, I really didn’t see any “need” for the trip. Sometime on Thursday I remembered the importance of sharing memories to bond as a family. I had confused being in the same building (our home) with sharing experiences. Admittedly, some play time as a family would be good for us.
A theme God has been showing me over and over again lately is unity. A day trip was an opportunity to promote unity with my family. Suddenly, I was eager to get on the road at 7a.m. (well maybe that part was still a struggle) to spend a day bonding with my family.
I don’t want to be overly romantic about our time, yet we did have a wonderful time. More importantly, is for me to remember that being in the same location is not the same as unity. Now we all have the memory of climbing for over an hour to see a spectacular view and experiencing a seventy foot waterfall that made us feel like we were in Hawaii instead of Wisconsin. This day trip will be remembered much longer than any normal Friday of school and prepping for the weekend.
