As we communicate to our teens that they must make their faith their own, we must make sure they understand that does not mean they can make up their own faith. Making their faith their own must still be based on Truth; it must line up with God’s word.
Making their faith their own is NOT picking and choosing what parts of the Bible they want to believe and obey. Making their faith their own is searching for Truth and surrendering to that Truth. No longer do they believe because of the hear say about what God’s Word says, but because God has told them personally.
As parents we must make sure our children clearly understand what making their faith their own means.
