Each day is a faith walk. Each day I cry out to my Father in heaven for wisdom to guide the children He has in entrusted to us. Often I tell the Lord I don’t know what I am doing and am clueless what to do next.
I see areas of concern in a child and I beg for the Lord to speak to that child and show us how to help that child. I pray for unity between Todd and I, so we are parenting as one.
Each day I plead for my Jesus to be a light to my path and a voice behind me saying, “this is the way; walk in it.” (Psalm 119: 105, Is. 30:21)
As our children mature our parenting changes from micro to macro parenting. When they were young we made decisions for them, in the middle years we guided and revisited the ups and downs, as young adults we are praying with and praying for, but not nearly as “in control”.
There is one verse that I hold onto and live by until shown the next step to take, “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,”
Although I may not be confident of what will come next, I am confident that the Lord has directed up to now and will continue. Yes, each day I cry out for wisdom as for buried treasure and that is the BEST way to parent.
