How many hours do you think she poured into this project? I don’t know the answer to that, but I can only imagine it was a lot.
You want to know the funny thing? None, not one, of her children remember this inner ear experience.
My point? I often think we as moms spend too much energy exposing our children to new things, to giving them many onetime experiences that they will not remember.
Studies say: “Many people know that a person's character and personality is largely established by the time they are very young. The traits that will define that individual throughout his or her life can be clearly identified when he or she is as little as 7 years old. In a new investigation, scientists show that, by the time they start going to school, children already exhibit the personality traits that will remain with them throughout their lives. This was clearly established in a new paper, written by experts at the University of California in Riverside (UCR),”
Instead of focusing on many new and exciting experiences, how about instilling godly character and training our children in the way they should go. Even in training our children it is not a onetime exposure. We cannot think “OK, I taught them that, check it off.” Character training requires repetition, repetition, repetition.
As moms we may tire of saying and doing the same thing day after day, but this is what our small children require. In order for our children to have a firm foundation to build their lives on we must pour ourselves into these first years of their lives training not just entertaining them.
