stated, “When something seems right to me, then I think it is God speaking to me.” This child is only ten years old, so he has a lot of understanding to grow in; yet, I think he has stated a common misunderstanding.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding.” Proverbs 3: 5
“The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding
to the simple.” Psalm 119: 130
“Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a
fool than for him.” Proverbs 26: 12
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow
his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.”Psalm 111: 10
As we guide our children, we must give them Truth to base their
convictions on. As they learn to hear God’s voice, it can be tested against God’s Word. Leaning on our own understanding or what seems right in our own eyes, will lead to destruction. We are all capable of rationalizing just about anything, which is why we must base our life on the unchanging word of God.
