Actually Paul is speaking, but if it is true for him then it is true for me too. And if it is true for me, then it is true for you too. So, I am a special agent of Christ Jesus! Natasha Romanoff has nothing on me! Who is your favorite special agent? They have nothing on you.
I can say they have nothing on you because the Lord has given you weapons and gadgets to fight His battle with. Gadgets and weapons like: prayer, the Holy Spirit, His Word, and wisdom. All of these shine bright light and disperse darkness; darkness has to flee.
The Lord has also given us armor—the armor of God, with a sword, shield and breastplate included.
Like our super hero friends we each have our own strengths and our own missions we must faithfully fulfill.
Still, there are over arching commands we must all fulfill, like the first commandment. Who knows what that is? Right, “you shall have no other God’s before Me.” We must keep this clear in our minds and fight compromise so we can ever discern between the One True God and all other fakes. Then we can stand with Captain America and declare, “There is only one God, and He doesn’t look like that.”
We can accomplish this by obeying Proverbs 4: 23 “Above all else guard your heart.”
We must stand guard, be alert, ever aware of what we are allowing into our heart. At times we will need to stand firm and like Gandolf of Lord of the Rings declare, “You cannot pass.” No one else can do this, we must guard our own hearts.
Lastly, there are times when all of us special agents are called together for a special mission, like in the Avengers. We need to each bring our own strengths and along with everyone else’s strengths we can pull off extraordinary missions.
When the time comes to work together with other Christians, it is not a time to compare or wish we had someone else's strength. In times of desperation we must each use our own strength to its fullest and allow others to use theirs. As special agents, we listen to our handler, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In whatever mission He calls us to, our answer is always "Here I am, send me."
