In my sincere cry to the Lord, He corrected me, I “heard” Him say, “Stop just asking and move, I am answering your prayer, but you aren’t doing your part.”
Then I thought through the previous day and saw two times that I missed opportunities to meet other’s needs. At the post office I ran into a friend that was mailing a package to Haiti. She needed to finish putting some bags together, so as we chatted, she sat on the floor and filled her bags. Then I left. Nope I didn’t offer to help; I had asked God, but didn’t move when He answered.
Secondly, I was at a dear 80+ year old friends, when she shared she had been thinking a lot lately about how she had never asked her mom how she coped with being a widow. Yep, you guessed it, this woman is a new widow and I never asked her how she was coping either. Thankfully, I will have opportunity to revisit this topic with her, yet, again God answered my prayer and I didn’t move.
Just as the word says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says” James 1:22. So I shouldn’t merely ask the Lord, and so deceive myself. I must move when He answers.
