How surprised I was when one of my children, not of marrying age, came up to me and said, “I don’t think I am going to get married.” “Why?” I asked. “Because, the Bible says to love the Lord with all your heart and how can I do that if I love my spouse?”
Good question.
Just as Paul says in I Corinthians, marriage does divide our hearts. YET, our marriage is an example of Christ and the church. In today’s society a godly marriage shines and declares there is something different here. Our marriage gives us a common ground with all the other married people around us on which to build relationship.
Our marriage also produces off spring. We are commanded by Jesus in Matthew 28: 19 “go and make disciples”. Inside of our home is our greatest sphere of influence. Our children ARE our disciples.
So, single is good, but marriage is also. Wherever the Lord leads, that is the best.
