Most of us don’t set out to get a bruise. Bruises are the product
of a mistake, an accident. One would think that bruises should be hidden, since they represent our weakness, right? Well, us Doeblers are a bit strange when it comes to bruises. We actually show them off.
I don’t know that we look to get bruises or even enjoy getting
bruises, but once we have one we show it off. “Look how big my bruise is.” Or “Do you see all those colors my bruise has?” We will even poke it and state that it still hurts.
Although it sounds strange to relay our bruise habit, I do have
one place I desire to keep bruised, it is my heart.
Why? Because I know how sensitive a bruise on my shin is, even my pants brushing on it reminds that it is there. I want my heart to be that tender, sensitive, like a bruise, so I can relate to others and be alert to needs around me. To allow my hurts, my weakness to make me better at sympathasizing with others.
That is a bruise worth bragging about.
