Even though Gramp and Gram came our children still did all of the cooking. Our daughter had to work two days, they went to sports club, fires had to be built, plants needed covering and on Memorial Day friends had them over. The time was full of responsibility. All wasn’t perfect; our youngest did get sad one night because she missed us, so I assigned one of her sisters to hug her more and tell her she loved her.
Today we were eager to get home. After landing, I was looking forward to driving up to the house and the children running out to greet us. I didn’t have to wait; because they had come to town to greet us at the airport! Their thoughtfulness went even a step further by picking up milk and bananas before meeting us.
Once we arrived home there was a chalk welcome by the garage door and another welcome home sign hanging in the house. The house was perfectly picked up, even the steps were vacuumed. Hamburger was defrosted for supper and the mail was in the basket. How amazing.
Yes, I am blessed. But this is for those of you that think we are too tough or unloving. We do take training our children seriously, but our home overflows with love and the desire to do good for each other. Often, like today, I sit in awe of how blessed I am. So I want to encourage each of you to continue in that which you are convinced of by God. As you weed and water, God will make the plant grow!
