“Men wanted for a hazardous journey. Small wages. Bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger; safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success.”
Can you guess how many men responded? A good first guess would be zero, but the stunning fact is more than 5,000 men asked to go.
Now let me use Shackleton’s example and offer you a clear, honest opportunity and see if you will accept it.
“Women wanted for challenging journey. No wages. Constant demands, long months of little sleep, minimal support; smooth sailing doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success.”
Who is willing?
Anyone who is a mom has already accepted and embarked on this challenging journey.
Congratulations! You are courageous. You are an explorer, willing to embark on new territories never having been traveled before. You have laid down your life for the lives of your children. The immediate pleasures are forgone to gain a goal; the goal of children that love the Lord with all their heart.
The honor and recognition will not be from the masses but from the mouths of our babes, as Proverbs puts it, “Her children arise and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31: 28
That’s priceless.
