night about midnight, wrapping up our week long trip to South Carolina. The stay at home children did a wonderful job of making our home coming a real blessing. The house was clean and neat, garbage was out for the morning pick up, supper is made for tonight, and hugs were given from those who could keep awake until we arrived. Home is refreshing!!
This morning was filled with hanging together and the telling of
stories. Reconnecting through words and sitting close. Now it is time to jump back into life. A little school, the garden needs attention, walk the neighbor’s dog, grocery shopping, return some phone calls, all the normal activities are waiting to be done. Absence from these duties has allowed my heart to grow fonder of them.
I look forward to “normal” and count each act of service as a
privilege. Oh how perspective changes things. This week will look much like the many weeks before our trip, yet, being reminded of what it is like without my whole family with me, has renewed my joy in doing the day to day. Our trip was very nice, but there is truly no place like home!!
