creature is stirring, not even a mouse.
We just finished saying prayers with three of the children. Now I
will sit down to wait for number four to get home from babysitting.
Today we celebrated my mother-in-law. They live two and a half
hours away, but made the trip to be with us today. How thankful I am for her. She is wonderful, not perfect, but wonderful. She was the number one shaper of who my husband is today, and for that I am very grateful!
After a morning of garage sales, an afternoon of working in the
woods and a yummy supper, we offered to take Mom out for ice cream. She willingly accepted. (Even though it meant getting home an hour later)
While sitting in the sun eating our bowls of dairy delight, my
father-in-law asked us what we liked most about being a mother.
It can be hard to find the words for something as intense as being a mother when put on the spot like that. I LOVE being a mother! My response felt small compared to what I felt. I declared the thing I liked best about being a mother was seeing four children
going out into the world as influencers; to see in hind sight that the choices to cook, clean, train, comfort and repeat were worth it all! My family nodded and we moved onto my mother-in-law.
She said from what she could remember, she loved reading with the children.
OOhh, was that what they were looking for?
I was a little embarrassed that I had expounded perhaps a little
too deeply for the situation. None the less, when it comes to being a mother, the waters run deep. I am extremely thankful for the privilege of being a mom.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!!
Being a mother is a very high calling; you are raising an army. And as the card I got from my in-laws said, “Mothering is not for
sissies.”
As you face another year of being a mother cling to this truth from Joshua 1:7 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” So remember, whether you go to the kitchen, the bathroom, the backyard, the bedroom…wherever you go, God is with you!!
