Thankfully, I just read about Betsy ten Boom (sister to Corrie).
Betsy could see God’s hand in everything, even in a concentration camp. After being put into a barrack with 1400 women that was made for 400, Betsy could still see some good. First, “being put here together” she was with Corrie. Secondly, “there was no inspection when we entered – so we were able to keep our
Bible.” And “even for the crowded quarters, so that even more will hear when we are able to share the Scripture with them!” At that point she could not see any blessing for the fleas, yet, she was confident they were a gift from the Lord. In the end, the fleas ended up being the reason the guards didn’t ever come in and bother them. Her attitude has challenged me.
My skills are not as polished as Betsy who could look around and
make a list on the spot. What is happening is I am not mad. I am purposefully looking for God’s hand and wanting to learn all He wants to teach me. Isaiah 19:22, “The Lord will strike Egypt (Kim) with a plague; He will strike them (her) and heal them (her). They (I) will turn to the Lord, and He will respond to their (my) pleas and heal them (me).”
I feel I have experienced the above verse somewhat already. Last night I typed the above with one hand while lying on the couch. As the evening went on, I got worse. But sometime early this morning my fever broke. Although I still have shingles, I feel like I have been healed!
None the less, if you want to pray for me, I would appreciate
it.
