If there was only one message I could share with moms, this would be it.
I Cor. 15: 58 “Therefore, my dear (sisters), stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
“ALWAYS give yourself” As a mother do not hold yourself back from your children. We want their hearts, so we must also give them ours. We know the giving of ourselves looks like service, but service can just be actions if we do not give our hearts with it. “Always” covers when we are tired, frustrated, discouraged, bored, distracted, excited, even when working on a project, always give yourself.
“FULLY to the work of the Lord,” What is the work the Lord has given you right now? If children are a gift from the Lord and we will one day give an account for how we manage God’s gifts, then our greatest work is to train these children in the way they should go. The work of a mother is the work of the Lord. Give yourself fully now while this work is before you, there will be another day when this work is done that God may give you another work to fully do. Be faithful today; then be faithful tomorrow too.
“because you KNOW” The world is screaming another message, so bury yourself in God’s Truth. The Bible has what we need for each day. Know that God cares about your everyday life and allow Him to be the last say, not any other source. We can only walk confidently when we know we are in God’s will. The only way to know anything is to know God’s word. Keep God’s commands bound upon your heart forever.
“your labor in the Lord is NOT IN VAIN” Pouring ourselves into little lives can be monotonous. We are so close up, that we cannot always see improvements. One day looks like the next and no one seems to care. The Lord sees and the Lord cares, He sees your day to day and knows that you will produce a harvest if you do not give up. Yes, raising little ones to follow Jesus is a labor, but it is NOT IN VAIN!
