You know my day to day often resembles either 70 and sunny or 22 and blizzard. I can often see the work of keeping house and training children as a blizzard and miss the beauty God has in the midst of it. On those rare smooth running days, it is as if the sun is shining everywhere. Oh how easy it is to praise Jesus on “perfect” days and see how blessed I am. Yet, God is the same on blizzard days as He is on sunny days—He desires my praises amidst the storm as well as in the calm. Since more days are hectic and full of unexpected interruptions, like the snow, then I need to learn to see the beauty in those days.
Right now I am looking out at the white fluff decorating the tree branches, while more beautiful flakes float down through the air. There is peace crying out to me as I see the white blanketing the dirty ground and spreading its freshness. Ahh, God is amazing in His variety and it is ALL to be enjoyed. So it is with each blizzard feeling day. Look for God’s beauty in your daily tasks and thank Him for your children. Ask Jesus to help you see Him amidst the storm. Open your eyes to see the privilege that comes with fresh starts.
One other thing that comes with blizzards is cancelations. Instead of pushing through the depths of snow to maintain schedule, events are cancelled. Perhaps we too at times should recognize the need to cancel extras when our days are just too piled up with “snow”—well, just a thought.
