As mothers we know that doing the deed requested of them would be easier than all the energy they are using to avoid it. I have to wonder why then this is such a universal issue?
Well wives, we are no different than our offspring.
Again, I am often amazed at how much energy wives expend avoiding sex. We will walk around on high alert to stay far away from accidentally encouraging our spouse’s advances. From leaving the room to stiffening when he comes near, we clearly proclaim, “stay away”. As wives we will even stay up much later than we want or should just to make sure no “wrong” message is given to our wanting husband. Oh, how wives have to stay on their toes to prep the ground work by proclaiming how tired we are so our man does not get his hopes up. The rotation of headache, cramps, exhaustion, early morning… require great organizational skills to not become too obviously over used.
If this describes you at all, please reconsider the fact that it would be easier to fulfill your wifely duty than to expend all that energy trying to avoid it. And unlike the work we are asking of our children, sex is fun!! Yes, it takes a little energy to warm up, but the final sense of closeness created is unmatched in any other way.
Draw a new perspective from
Song of Solomon 1:4a “Take me away with you—let us hurry!! Let the king” (your wonderful husband) “bring me into his chambers.”
Meditate on running away with your main man verses avoiding his advances.
